Position summary:
The estimator is a critical position that is responsible for evaluating project specifications and drawings, ensuring  everything all requirements to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must follow up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received, complete and competitive. Estimators will also work with the Project Managers to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:
Reviews specification information and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Computes cost factors, including labor and prepares estimates for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or sub-contractors and determining cost effectiveness.
Performs takeoffs on blueprints (i.e., scaling drawings, counting windows, entrances and/or panels, etc.)
Consults with owners, contractors, vendors, foreman/superintendents, and project managers to develop and communicate estimates.
Discusses changes and adjustments to cost estimates with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors.
Communicate project details/strategy to Project Managers and jobsite foremen.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to read and comprehend architectural blueprints, drawings and specifications
Basic math and algebra skills, along with ability to understand ruler measurements
Proficient in the use of PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Experience with AutoCAD
